Yarn Shop V: Craft and Me

I first met Ms. Rini, one of the owners of http://www.craftandme.com,ย  where else? at Multiply!

She was selling yarns on her multiply site and i contacted her.ย  Hers are the cheapest yarns I’d ever seen online. When I shared this to my friends, one of them volunteered to buy me from their shop.

The yarns that i liked most:

I used this yarn as border for my ‘little red riding hood’ project.

And this one:

Everybody loves special and if it’s a special yarn, it’d be super!!!

The one i got is the bubble yarn labeled 1. Still dunno what to do with it. ๐Ÿ™‚

Still Hyped!

When you have so many yarns and so many hooks and you have just realized it, maybe you’d be as hyped as I am.
It was a new challenge for me to try making a hooded bolero. Without actually knowing how to make one I just patterned it from one of my hooded blouses.
From friday, in between building flex projects, waiting for the server to load, inside the 30 minute ride in the mrt to home. From saturday morning til just before watching GI Joe.
My hands were already throbbing in pain. But I did not mind. And I was so happy finishing it. I wore it during the barkada movie hang out. ๐Ÿ™‚

I am now trying to write the instructions of this clothing (and draw the pattern too!!!)

Yarn Store IV: Dreams Yarnshoppe @ Glorietta 5

Yarn is a good therapy for me. And today, i wanted so much to see yarns that I decided to finally search the dreams yarnshoppe in Glorietta 5.

Dreams Yarnshoppe @ Glorietta 5

Dreams Yarnshoppe @ Glorietta 5

They have (of course) relayout their shelves. The first time i visited Dreams was when it was still in Glorietta (1 or 2??) And that place was too small and the yarns are stucked up in shelves that i did not much appreciate the store. But this time around, I was in awe.

SO MANY YARNS!!! (I love yarns!)

But they are so expensive. I cannot pick much because i am always considering the amount of money I am going to put ย on resources i might not use.

But the people inside were so accomodating, I feel awkward about not buying anything. Well I want to buy! I really do. And mike gave me permission to spend. And that’s good right? Coz he did not tell me the limit. But I wish he did.. sigh.

It’s really hard to spend so much money and you’re thinking about paying a 25K cake.

I picked three out of their ‘yarns that are on sale’. Each ball costs P190. (OUCH!)

They also have the yarns i can buy from baguio and pasig. But of course (quite expensive) than to those I already have. Considering it’s in Glorietta.

One (big) ball of baguio yarn costs around P50 to P70 and theirs are around P120. Big difference right?

Still I am quite satisfied with my yarn purchase today.

Yarn Store III: Bodega @ Rosario, Pasig

I have a multiply account and have been blogging about anything (and of course about yarns and crocheted stuffs) when a fellow multiply user commented on my blog post : Baguio’s Treasures

So that’s just what we did. One weekend, I asked michael to accompany me to that place without even knowing the name of the store or if it really exists. We took a bus going to Ayala, and we took off at Ortigas Avenue, climbed the pink pedestrian overpass under the MRT, walked at the side of Robinson’s Galleria where jeepneys are abound.

We looked for jeepneys with a sign that says : Rosario.

We passed by the C5 Ortigas Flyover, the rosario bridge and then right after the bridge is a Pedestrian Overpass. We asked the driver to stop the jeepney. From there we climbed the overpass across to go the the other side of the street. There were really lots of ‘bodega’ [Storage Houses] that sell yarns by kilo.

the yarns they are selling are like those we saw in baguio.

One fellow blogger, post an article about the yarns she bought from there. ๐Ÿ™‚

Yarn Store II: UP Consumer’s Cooperative Store

I was a UP Dormer. and I literally lived inside the campus. We have two convenient stores: The UP Coop (UP Consumer’s Cooperative Store) and SC (Shopping Center). the two buildings are beside each other, near Kalayaan Residence Hall and beside the Infirmary.

I started crocheting again when I was taking my Master’s Degree. (Mind you i stopped after a semester). I was always in the dormitory and I started fancying crochet (besides accessory making) when I saw a shelf of crochet threads (Monaco) on the mezzanine of Coop.

The yarns are of variegated colors. They also sell crochet hooks. I bought two balls of yarns and a hook and wondered if i can still crochet something. The last time I crocheted was back in highschool. And that was because we had a project.

Soon, i started incorporating crocheted accessories in our mini accessory business. We hit off one bazaar. A lady bought several crocheted earrings and bracelets. My hands sore all throughout the day. Since then it became a habit. Almost an obsession. Specially when I left graduate school after a semester and bummed for one whole month in our home at Bulacan. I just crochet everyday (besides from sketching and writing) It was what I only do.
